‘Tis the season for baring more skin right? Getting our bodies ready for Spring and Summer, working out more consistently, making healthier choices and getting our skin smooth, glowing and worthy of the warmer seasons. I recently shared with you my introduction to removing hair with an epilator thanks to Philips and over the next couple of months I’d like to take this idea of preparing your body for the upcoming seasons one step further by sharing my tips and tricks for gorgeous nails, smooth and radiant skin and how to get that gorgeous golden glow of summer by faking it. Sound good? Personally I think gorgeous, radiant, smooth skin is the best accessory of the season 🙂
This week, I am going to share my ritual for creating a totally awesome and indulgent manicure and pedicure in the comfort of your own home. Are you ready?
Step 1: Gather Your Favorite Pampering Products
For me, my absolute essential mani and pedi supplies include a cute bowl/tub for soaking, healing sea salts, yummy smelling oils, a great scrub and/or callus remover, a great intense moisturizing lotion, cuticle oil, cute moisturizing spa gloves and socks, a fab nail file, a nourishing base coat and fun seasonal nail polish colors (I am partial to blue and green)
Step 2: Soak, Soak, Soak!
Take a moment to unwind and relax by soaking your hands and feet in warm water infused with aromatic oils and pretty colored bath salts to soften your skin and calm your senses. Lately, I have been loving the combination of lavender and tangerine essential oils to shift my mood.
Step 3: Exfoliate & Smooth
Personally, this is my favorite part, getting rid of my dry, unwanted skin. On my hands, I use an oil based scrub to gently exfoliate and on my feet I use a variety of things depending on my mood. My arsenal includes: a microderm scrub, a callus removing blade or gel or textured pads with salicylic acid that you find at the drug store. I use whatever it takes to get my feet soft and baby smooth!
Step 4: Hydrate Baby!
Use a generous amount of your favorite lotion (the yummier smelling the better) and give yourself a lovely hand and foot massage. Reapply and rub a couple of times to really get them moist, top off with your favorite cuticle oil, put on warm and snuggly colorful cotton gloves and socks for about 20 minutes to let the lotion penetrate and just relax.
Step 5: Prep Your Nails
File your nails into your favorite shape (I’m a square girl myself) and apply a strengthening top coat. Then put tissue in between your toes to separate them from touching.
Step 6: Polish with a color that captures the season
Apply two coats of a colorful polish that captures the mood of the season. Tangerine and vibrant corals are really in this season and I adore the combination a baby blue on my toes and minty green on my nails, so very Springy! Close the deal with a shiny topcoat and Viola! You’ve got gorgeous hands and feet for a night on the town or a day at the beach.
