Avon Celebrity Makeup Artist, Paul Innis with Haizel McIntyre
This past summer I had the distinct pleasure of meeting the lovely Haizel McIntrye at a fabulous party I hosted on behalf of AVON during BlogHer ’12 in NYC. Haizel was one of a few specially selected AVON reps who attended my party in order to share the brand and it’s wonderful products with influential bloggers. I found Haizel to be genuine, down to earth and beautiful both inside and out, and that is why I decided to interview her for this article. As you will see, your perception of the AVON brand is totally out dated and obsolete. Today’s AVON lady (now more commonly know as an AVON Representative) is modern, ambitious, entrepreneurial and a multi-tasker. With this evolution in mind, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Haizel McIntyre, a modern day AVON Lady.
Tell me a little bit about yourself: Family, Lifestyle, Hobbies, Profession
I am a mother of three. My husband and I live in NY with our children. I work full-time as a Bilingual School Social Worker and run my Avon business part-time, as I have been doing for the last four years. In general, my life is dedicated to my kids.
What is something that people might be surprised to know about you?
I’m not sure if I have any surprising qualities. Perhaps it might be a bit surprising to know that I didn’t start wearing makeup or know how to properly apply makeup until I started selling Avon.
Why did you start working with AVON? There are so many brands out there, what sets this brand apart/what attracted you to this brand?
I started selling Avon after my youngest turned one. I have always worked multiple jobs but after realizing the financial demands of having three children and not willing to be away from my family, I decided that I needed to look into direct selling. In the process of researching options, Avon fell on my lap.
What do you like about working with AVON? What’s your favorite part about being a rep?
I LOVE selling Avon. I love the products, the flexibility, the amount of support Avon offers and how Avon cares and appreciates their reps. Oops, I guess that’s four things and doesn’t really qualify as one favorite.
I know that you are one of AVON’s top selling sales reps, what is the secret to your success?
Setting goals and following up. Those are the key factors in succeeding with Avon.
What is one of your fondest memories since you have been selling AVON?
Last year, Avon chose me and my daughter to participate in a shoot for Campaign 8. It was such a great experience and her reaction after seeing the brochure was priceless. Another memory that always sticks with me is from when I first started selling Avon is when my son was four and I took him out with me to hand out brochure packets. He decided to help me out by handing out brochures with me and calling out, “free Avon samples.” It was so cute and he received more and better responses than I did.
What is currently your favorite AVON product? Why?
Another difficult question. If I had to choose one, it would be my ANEW Skin Care Regimen. I love how my skin looks and feels since using the ANEW products.
And lastly, if you could share one piece of advice or share your personal motto with my readers, what would it be?
How determined are you to achieve your dreams? If your drive equals your ambition then GOYAA! (Get Off Your Anatomy…and take Action)
