A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about my experience trying out a new haircare line blindly, and I discussed how interesting and challenging it was to not know the brand and how much I realized that the brand and messaging impacts your perception of a product. Well earlier this week, I was sent the exact same box of products labeled and branded and today I wanted to share my reactions with you.
The Brand in my blind haircare product trial was revealed as Suave’s New Professionals Natural Infusion product line. These new products in the Suave family are infused with natural ingredients like Seaweed, Awapuhi and Macadamia which all target different hair needs and help deliver benefits to specifically target those hair challenges like dryness, breakage and volume.
The Suave products that I tried were the Seaweed All Day Body Shampoo & Conditioner and the Seaweed All Day Body Leave-In Foam all targeted at delivering volume and bounce to fine hair. The All Day Body line is enriched with natural ingredients like seaweed and lotus blossom to gently cleanse, hydrate and add weightless (not sticky or crunchy) body from root to tip and make hair uniformly voluminous. The Suave Professionals products also have a luxurious nature-inspired fragrance which makes them smell more expensive than they actually are and they have also been proven to volumize as well as the luxury haircare brand Pureology.
What was my reaction to Suave being the brand behind these products?
Honestly, considering the quality and impressive results, I was a bit surprised that Suave was the brand behind these products. My prior perception of Suave was that it is an inexpensive, ‘cheapie’ line of haircare products that you find at your local mass retailer. I have never actually tried any Suave products before this trial because I thought that they would feel and behave harshly and would strip my hair of moisture and color. Much to my surprise, the Seaweed All Day Body products were nourishing, volumizing and shine enhancing.
In summary, I would say that this Suave blind haircare product trial was a success because it allowed me to try out some products that I otherwise might not have, I had no judgements and I just took the products at face value and they delivered and impressed. And not only did the results impress, but it changed my perception of the brand from cheap and drying to more luxurious, nourishing and volumizing. Who knew that Suave was a real contender in the mass haircare landscape? I do now and so do you.
Disclosure: I partnered with Lunchbox Shopper Engagement for this campaign, but all opinions and gorgeous voluminous hair are my own.
