Fresh Off the Press! As a Neutrogena Brand Ambassador, I’m thrilled to among the first to share the inside scoop on the celebrity hair and make-up breakdowns from tonight’s 2016 Emmy Awards. First up, I’m sharing the fabulous look of the radiant and glowing mama-to-be Kerry Washington:

Makeup Look By Carola Gonzalez
Inspiration:
“I was definitely inspired by Kerry’s hair. I wanted to compliment the look, but didn’t want to overpower the 70’s vibe. I wanted the makeup to be fun and have a touch of something that would make it stand out. I created a double line eyeliner with black and gold and full of luscious lashes. I would describe this look as classic with an edge and a touch of a 70’s vibe.” – Carola Gonzalez

Face:
“To prep Kerry’s skin I always use Neutrogena HydroBoost Water Gel in Extra Dry to boost hydration and the nourish skin. I let it sink in and once absorbed, I begin the makeup application.”

“My first step is to highlight and conceal imperfections wherever needed. To create an even skin tone on Kerry, I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation in Cocoa. This foundation is perfection. It has great coverage and creates a radiant, healthy glow without having to use any extras to enhance the skin. Plus, it’s the perfect match to Kerry’s skin tone.”

“Right after the foundation, I always like to apply the blush on the apple of her cheeks and blend upward towards the temples. In this case I wanted the blush shade to be more subtle, and closer to Kerry’s own natural skin tone to look like she was barely wearing blush and create more of a bronzing effect. To create this effect, I first applied Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends in Sunkissed and lightly layered it with the same blush in Vibrant.”

Eyes:
“For the eyes I decided to create a double eyeliner look. Black eyeliner closer to lash line and gold eyeliner right on top, following the same shape of the black liner. To create Kerry’s look I, lined the top lash with Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Cosmic Black and extended the tale on the outer-edge to create a cat eye. To complete the eye I applied two coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black to lower lashes.”

Lips:
“Since I didn’t want her lips to compete with her eyes, I used Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Warm Caramel. This shade kept the look neutral and close to Kerry’s own natural skin tone.”

Hair Look by Takisha Sturdivant-Drew
Inspiration:
“From the moment I saw Kerry’s Brandon Maxwell dress, I instantly thought big, natural and textured hair will keep the look fresh, modern and soft. My inspiration for the look was her baby bump. When it came to styling her hair it was all about the cut outs and her baby bump. I really wanted the hair to stand out and that’s why I styled it with a lot of texture while still showing her face with the middle part.” – Takisha Sturdivant-Drew

Tips & Product Breakdown:
“To get Kerry’s healthy, textured looking hair I shampooed her hair with Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, which instantly cleanses the hair without stripping it. The conditioner I used was Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask. It is an intensive moisture treatment that restores shine and leaves the hair so soft and lustrous.”

1. I air-dried her hair on a medium dryer to keep the texture in her hair. I wanted to add volume and make the hair swell.
2. Then I parted her hair down the middle because I wanted to keep her face open.
3. Finally to give her hair, this added texture with volume I started from the back and clipped in TSD Hair Extensions and worked my way to the top for length and volume.
4. To finish off the hairstyle I used a small wand to curl certain pieces.
5. Lastly, I brushed the hair out with my goody paddle brush and goody lift comb to give her hair that undone textured look and pump up the volume.
