Being an influential blogger definitely has it’s perks, like being able to attend swanky Hollywood style parties like The X Factor Finalist Party that I attended earlier this week. I was lucky enough to be invited to this fabulous party (along with two of my fav social media mavens) by a few of the event sponsors COVERGIRL, Secret and Herbal Essences to enjoy an evening of celebrating the top twelve finalists of the X Factor. And let me tell you, this was a top notch party with no expense spared.
About a week before the event, these sponsoring brands sent me this fabulous box of beauty booty to prep for the big event. I love when brands include this extra classy touch because it totally puts you in the mood for the party. I am in the market for a new deodorant and was excited to try Secret’s New Clinical Strength Formulas and I also immediately fell in love with COVERGIRL’s Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balms because they are yummy, super moisturizing and they give you the perfect wash of color.
Last week, I saw Humor Abuse at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, and it was honestly one of the most delightful, creative and captivating shows that I have seen in a long time. Humor Abuse was created and performed by the incredibly charming and talented Lorenzo Pisoni. This is an autobiographical one-man show about growing up in San Francisco’s Pickle Family Circus and about his famous clowning parents who allowed him to join the family business at the age of six. Lorenzo earned his clown stripes through on-the-job training with his domineering clown father as his role model, guru and comic foil.
Pisoni tells his riveting, funny and heartwarming tale while performing side-splitting physical feats like juggling, balancing a hat on his clown nose, falling down stairs and dodging sandbags to name a few of the show’s memorable highlights. He is masterful at mixing heart and humor while tenderly paying homage to the consummate performer, parent and perfectionist who taught him everything he needed to fill some very big shoes.
