Greetings loyal followers, I have been busy, busy keeping up with all that is going on in the beauty world, hence the lapse in posts. Below, you will find a sampling of some fun things that are popping up in the beauty world, as well as some of the trend scouting missions and events that have been keeping me busy. Enjoy!

MAC Venomous Villains  The blogosphere is all abuzz about the Fall release of MAC’s latest inspired collection called the Venomous Villains. I am particularly excited about this special collection because not only am I a beauty maven, but I am an avid collector of all things Disney female villians (which I call the Evil Queens.) Can you say Malificent, Cruella, and Ursula?

Here’s the official scoop: MAC Cosmetics is teaming up with Disney to create a limited edition color collection, intended to launch globally in late September in all MAC locations. The products will feature four Disney characters, on which the brand is keeping mum at the moment — although with a collection name of Venomous Villains, it is assumed that we’re not talking Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse here. Lipstick, powder, lip gloss and blush shades will be sold, ranging in price from $12 to $29.50. I will be all over this fabu collection!! CEW Award Winners Cosmetic Executive Women, Inc. (CEW) is one of the leading trade organizations in the beauty industry, comprised of members who are some of the most influential people in the beauty business (including yours truly :-) ) The CEW Beauty Awards are one of the industry’s highest honors because they recognize some of the most innovative beauty products of the year, as voted by CEW members and industry experts. Winners of this award gain tremendous exposure in the beauty category. The 2010 CEW Beauty Award Winners were just announced, click HERE for the list.

NYX Cosmetics Decade +1 Unveiled Event Last week, I was invited to a super fun swanky poolside party at the

Katherine McPhee & Me at NYX Event

Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in celebration of NYX Cosmetics 11th Anniversary. This brand is probably best known for making high quality, professional make-up at affordable prices. In honor of this milestone, the brand hosted this great event to celebrate its established presence in the cosmetics industry. I brought along another fabulous blogger TravelsWithTwo, and we enjoyed hanging poolside, checking out celebs (like Carmen Electra & Katherine McPhee) listening to great tunes, sipping the signature NYX-tini (a yummy grapefruit pink girly concoction), eating yummy morsels (loved the petite burgers and the Guinness Beer milkshakes), and playing with samples of NYX Cosmetics. We left with lots of NYX make-up goodies and I am especially enjoying their yummy berry flavored and slightly tingly Mega Shine Lip Gloss.

Shecky’s Girls Night Out Last week was a busy week for me, I also attended Shecky’s GNO with my bestie. Shecky’s is a nationwide lifestyle and shopping event that introduces women to emerging lifestyle brands and designers. There are lots of free giveaways, samples, and sponsored alcohol to drink. I attend this fab event in LA twice a year and look forward to finding unique products and trends. This year, I once again fell in love with the beautiful vintage necklaces by Eda and Betty Heirloom Couture, found an amazing assortment of bold statement making bling rings and was surprised by how much I enjoyed Michelob Ultra Snapdragon Peach (a light slightly fruity beer but not sweet.) Once again, it was fabulous girly fun and I look forward to the next time!

Makeup & Go! Yesterday, I was invited to a sneak peak glimpse of Makeup & Go!, an inpsired new make-up studio concept in Brentwood, CA. Basically, Makeup & Go! transforms the only-for-special-occassions professional makeup application to a spontaneous, affordable whenever-you-feel-like-it service (kinda like a weekly mani/pedi) at an affordable price (starting at $18). You can stop in and get your makeup done by a pro artist without an appointment or any high pressure sales pitches. They don’t sell make-up products (but can make referrals about where to purchase and offer discount codes) and use a variety of top selling indie brands like Smashbox, Tarte and Juice Beauty to name a few. It’s a sleek modern space with a fabulous selection of unique gift items for purchase. And they will soon open Bubble Blow Out right next door ($35 for a wash & blowdry), so you can get your makeup and hair done and pick-up last minute gifts all in one spot–Brilliant!

Greetings Beauty Mavens! Well, I have finally landed back in LA after scouring many of the beauty industry insider events on the East and West Coast (The LA Make-Up Show, CEW Product Demos, IECSC and IBS), all in pursuit of new trends and undiscovered beauty products. I had an absolute blast walking the floors of these leading trade shows and trying the latest that beauty has to offer. And now I would like to share with you, my lovely reader, some of the exciting and fun products that caught my eye:

Bling Strands
This is the coolest hair accessory on the planet! I discovered Bling Strands at Cosmoprof this past summer and they still rock my world! It is a thin shimmery strip of bling that is tied into your hair and looks like a sparkly highlight. Everyone stops me and asks what I am wearing in my hair because it is so fun, unique and different.

Embryolisse Essential Dry Skin Balm
This is a new product created by the company that makes the cult fav LCC cream that I adore. This is a magaical little healing balm that is perfect for those pesky dry patches you tend to get in the winter months, but what is truly fab about this balm is that it treats your dry spots with a matte finish, brilliant!

I Nuovi Professional
This is a pigment rich, high intensity makeup line that is enriched with innovative skin pampering antioxidants, botanical extracts and vitamins. It is a beautifully made line, with an amazing assortment of products and colors that also treat the skin. This is a fun line that I can’t wait to dig into!

YoYo Lip Gloss Mini’s
This is a fun and inspired girlie little product. It’s a mini flavored lip gloss that is attached to a retractable cord that you clip on so you don’t lose it. This is a playful product that appeals to the girl inside all of us and it makes me smile when I use it–very smart and memorable packaging.

Sprayology
This is another inspired find of mine. These are homeopathic and vitamin oral sprays that are spritzed under your tongue, are rapidly absorbed and deliver a variety of instant symptomatic relief. I was drawn to Party Relief, Woman Power and Brain Power and they can even be combined to treat a multiple issues. Not only is it a fun concept, but they taste good and I did notice that I had more energy and clarity after I got my dose.

Stay tuned for more of my newest beauty discoveries Part Two, coming next week.

Happy Monday Beautacious Babes! Yesterday, I attended the International Spa and Salon Expo in Long Beach for the very first time. I was there scouting beauty trends and looking for new and inspired products to share with you. This is the largest professional cash-and-carry beauty exposition and educational event on the West Coast. It was a crazy energetic event with professionals from all aspects of the beauty biz on the hunt for the latest and greatest products and bargains. The show floor was packed, lively and filled with lots of colorful characters, and I really enjoyed it.

Some of the trends that I noticed were hair extensions galore, hair bling, all things argan oil, fun bright pastel colors in make-up and nails for spring, lots of variations of Brazilian hair straightening, several instant results skin care products, and a plethora of enhanced features and upgrades on heat styling tools and hair appliances.

Here is a list of the products that caught my eye (and that I am planning to conduct the standard Romy Raves in-depth trial and share my favs with you at a later date):

Stamp Me Fabulous Eye Brow Stamps: You select a stamp that best fits your own brow shape, cover it with semi permanent eyebrow color and stamp it on your brow. This is especially great for someone with sparse eyebrow hairs (like me). I thought this was a very inspired idea and I can’t wait to try it!

Belvada Cosmetics Mascara and Lipgloss: This company has a patented one handed mascara and lip gloss package that gives you more control of your product application. It also has a two layer wipe system to minimize product clumps and excess. I’m intrigued.

Macadamia Natural Oil Hair Products: YUM!  Hair care products made out of macadamia nut oil, count this foodie in! I love the gorgeous brown floral and lime green packaging on this product line and can’t wait to try these beautiful sounding products. Oh, and they had the most insanely delicious tasting macadamia nuts to nibble on at their expo booth–great branding!

Essie Chinchilly Matte: Uber chic new taupe-y grey color by nail industry leader Essie, and its bundled with an on trend matte top coat. Very cool and different, I cannot wait to try it!

Genie Instant Line Smoother: This is an instant results product that is supposed to immediately and visibly smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and the demo was impressive. I can’t wait to take this product for a spin myself, stay tuned.

Dermasurface Surface Bright: This is a face brightening product with a new ingredient that I haven’t heard of called tranexamic acid which is supposed to reduce the activity of melanin (brown spots). I new face brightener, count me in!

Velana K Lip Gloss in Jennifer: All I can say is that she got me to try a pink color (I am SO NOT a pink girl) and it looked really good! This beautiful looking and feeling gloss has a unique golden seaweed mixture that moisturizers and fills in the lips. And she has also added to the appeal by naming each gloss after a woman who is important in her life (can you say Romy Red ;-) ). I likie!

BesameInspirationI often feel like I am from a different era, a time where looking like a pin-up girl was I all the rage. I totally would have fit in during this bygone era and perhaps that explains why am drawn to all things vintage, especially make-up. Imagine my delight when I learned about Besame Cosmetics, a beautiful line of vintage inspired make-up products dedicated to bringing the glamour and romance back to cosmetics.

Gabriela Hernandez is the creator of this beautiful cosmetic line that was inspired by a combination of her background in art and design, a love for feminine detail, and fond memories of her glamorous grandmother. Gabriela used inspirational drawings, advertisements and her grandmother’s original 1940′s lipstick tubes as the foundation of designing a modern classic lipstick with a distinctly vintage feel. This is precisely why I was drawn to Besame’s Voluptuous Lip Colour Set.

voluptuous lip 2I love this lipstick set for two reasons: the beautiful vintage packaging and the high quality lipstick product. It is evident that Gabriela has an amazing eye for artistic detail because this adorable set looks exactly like a lipstick you would expect to find a woman pulling out of her purse in the forties or fifties. The sleek black lipstick tube with the art deco design clearly reflects the design tastes of these eras of the past as does the the bullet shaped lipstick. The lipstick comes in a black velvet pouch along with a matching lip liner and an adorable hand crafted lipstick brush that is ergonomically designed for easy application. All of these well thought out design details make this a packaging ‘wow’ IMO.

Not only is the packaging divine, but the lipstick is really wonderful too. It is made out of a proprietary blend of ingredients like rose waxes, flower essences, aloe, green tea and botanical oils that aids in cell renewal, promotes natural fullness, provides rich pigment, has a feather proof formula and is paraben and petrolatum free. My lips feel full, moist and supple when I use this lipstick, I love the wonderful opaque coverage and perfectly matched liner, and it has good staying power too. I really like both the warm neutral Champagne color as well as the perfect vintage Red Velvet color.

If you want to get in touch with your inner vintage glamour girl, you can buy your Voluptuous Lip Colour Set Here ($35).
