I am sure many of you have seen Zoya Nail Polish at your local beauty stores, and you might have noticed that they have an amazing array of fresh modern colors, and you might know that they were one of the first companies to remove toxic ingredients from their nail polish–BUT you probably don’t know the heart warming story about the founder of the company or that this company is really into ‘spooning’! I’d love to share the story with you.
I had the unique privilege of meeting the passionate Zoya at a beauty conference this summer and I got to sit down with her and learn about her life’s journey (BTW it was like listening to my grandparents speak about their immigration to America, and I hung on every word, the story was that good!). Zoya was a classical pianist from Russia, who moved to this country not speaking a lick of English. Since pianist jobs were limited, cosmetology offered a lot of opportunities, so she got her Cosmetology license in 1979 when she and her husband Michael immigrated to the United States. Zoya’s worked hard as a manicurist and noticed that there was a need for healthier nail products and a better selection of colors. So she tapped into her husband’s skill set (he was an advanced chemist), and together they developed and patented unique products like the first working fast drying topcoat and the longest wearing, toxin free natural nail polish. This dynamic duo revolutionized the nail industry and still oversee the innovations at Zoya today. Isn’t that just a fab story? Zoya was so charismatic and hearing her story totally made me appreciate Zoya products even more.
Fast forward to today, and not only does Zoya have the most amazing eye catching array of modern colors, but they have also removed most of the toxic ingredients from nail polish such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde and DBP (dibutyl phthalate). And most recently, they have pioneered an innovative polish sampling program they call Spooning!
Have you ever purchased a nail color online only to find that it doesn’t match the picture? What if you could see exactly how any Zoya polish would look on you before you bought it? Well, the Zoya Color Spoon program is the brilliant solution to that problem. Zoya Spoons are clear plastic, spoon shaped devices with actual nail polish poured in the nail shaped tip. Before you order a full bottle of a color, you order a spoon instead so that you can see exactly what the color will look like on your nails. And here is the best part: You pay fifty cents per spoon, they ship for free no matter how many you order, as soon as your order ships you receive a personalized promo code for a discount in the exact amount you spent on spoons, and then use it on your actual polish order. How cool is that?!!
Beyond this great story and online selling innovation, Zoya makes the most fantabulous nail colors around! I am constantly impressed with their collections. Recently, they released the Wicked Collection, consisting of an amazing array of sparkly jewel toned colors inspired by the professional dancers on Dancing with the Stars.
I am loving all of these sparkly wonders, especially the olive gold metallic green of Edyta and the color I am currently wearing Karina, a crimson ruby red with swirls of metallic glitter. Feels like a Dorothy from Oz meets the holidays kind of color, so fun and festive!
