Smelling Like a Rose: My 2014 Valetine’s Day Fragrance Round-Up

I’ve loved Valentine’s Day every since I was a little girl! What’s not to love: treats, surprises, chocolate, bright colors, yummy smells, sweet and tasty treats! I especially adore sampling fragrances leading up to Valentine’s Day because I am looking for scents that convey love, romance, feminine, sweet, passion and sensuality. This year there were many contenders, but following are eight wonderful scents that swept me off my feet and enchanted my nose with the essence of Valentine’s Day. I hope you discover a fabulous new fragrance to try this year and either treat yourself to a new bottle or drop a not so subtle hint to your special someone xoxo

Bond No. 9 I LOVE NEW YORK for Her ($105) Bond No. 9 NYC makes amazing cult fav fragrances in gorgeous collectable bottles. I couldn’t resist their newest I Love New York for Her in a hot pink bottle with the trademark I Heart New York logo. It’s a rich yummy pastry gourmand fragrance with notes of mandarin zest, spicy nutmeg, blueberry accord, roses, pink peonies, patchouli, musk, vanilla, sandalwood and leather accord. The peonies and patchouli take center stage in this fragrance making it sweet, sultry and almost edible.

Elizabeth Arden Untold Eau de Parfum ($59) Untold is a luxurious modern floral fragrance with a sparkling fruity top note, a radiant floral heart note and a mysterious addictive warmth as its base. I’d describe it as a fresh feminine floral with a creamy warm dry down which makes it perfect for date night. I also absolutely love the curved faceted bottle created for Untold, it’s so unique and looks stunning on my bathroom counter.

Katy Perry Killer Queen Eau de Parfum Spray ($59) Killer Queen totally embodies the playful regal essence of female power house Katy Perry with its intoxicating and memorable floriental notes of wild berries and red velvet flowers. But the best part of this parfum by far is the amazing jewel-shaped faceted bottle (inspired by a Queen’s scepter) accompanied by a gold crown cap with a KP crest on top of it. So chic and unique just like the popstar herself.

Bellegance Midnight Promise Perfume ($105) Midnight Promise is the premiere fragrance from Bellegance Perfumes created by Master Perfumer Sarah Horowitz (she is a perfume making genius!) and made in France. Midnight Promise is a complex fragrance with a top notes of sparkling red mandarin with a hint of tangy cinnamon, red Moroccan rose at its heart and sensual base notes of vanilla, amber, incense, fresh vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood and musk. I love the beautiful amethyst Italian glass bottle topped a gold butterfly cap. Tres Chic!

SWAROVSKI Miss Aura Eau de Toilette ($70) I absolutely love the crystal, cut and faceted cap accented by a burst of butterflies of this stunning bottle which totally captures the essence and sparkle of Swarovski. Aura is a magical fragrance with top notes of pink grapefruit and lichee, middle notes of rose and sweet pea and base notes of vetiver and patchouli. This is a feminine floral yet slightly green scent, making it a romantic Valentine’s Day gift.

Avon Instinct for Her Eau de Parfum Spray  ($25) I constantly get compliments when I wear Avon fragrances and Instinct is no exception. It’s a refreshing yet sensual blend of sparkling greens, exotic camellia and a touch of sandalwood. It’s a gorgeous sophisticated fragrance at a budget friendly gift giving price.

LaVanila The Healthy Fragrance Vanilla Passion Fruit  ($58)  Vanilla Passion Fruit is a crisp, tropical explosion of passion fruit, guava and peach nectar steeped in warm base of sandalwood and Madagascar vanilla. This all-natural fragrance is fresh, a bit sweet and transports me back to the Caribbean. Who can resist a vacation in a bottle?!

CLINIQUE Calyx Eau de Parfum Spray  ($52) I was over-the-moon when I heard that Clinique had recently relaunched one of my all time favorite fragrances of my younger years: Calyx. This is a sparkling, crisp, fresh, energizing scent with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, florals, herbs and wood. It’s transports me to more carefree days and it smells EXACTLY the same. LOVE IT!!
