I really enjoy celebrating and acknowledging Earth Day because it raises my consciousness and challenges me to take a closer look at my consumer habits and think about making greener and more meaningful choices. I love the idea that if each of us makes one small change or shift in our consumer behaviors in honor of Earth Day, those small individual choices can collectively result in having a significant impact on our world and our planet. So in line with that thinking, I have curated a pretty fab assortment of beautiful greener beauty products for you to consider adding to your mix this April. I hope you find something new that inspires you and please share your thoughts and experiences in the comments section below.
Juara Radiance Vitality Oil ($65) is a light and elegant treatment oil that contains a powerful complex of precious oils including Plumeria, Passionfruit, Candlenut, Coconut, Macadamia, Jojoba, Avocado, Turmeric and Rice Bran Oils combined with stabilized Vitamin C and a firming Five-Flavor-Berry Extract to immediately hydrate, brighten, firm, smooth and restore your skin’s elasticity. Not only is this a gorgeous skin transforming serum, but adding to the appeal is the fact that during the month of April, Juara is donating 10% of all their online sales to the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the nation’s most effective environmental action group who works on important issues like clean energy, global warming, marine life, endangered wildlife, pollution, safe and sufficient water, and fostering sustainable communities.
Aveda Light The Way Candle 2015 ($12) is an aromatic and spicy candle made with certified organic vanilla and cinnamon grown in Madagascar. I love how the scent is both warm and invigorating all at the same time! However, the best part about this yummy candle is that 100% of the purchase price helps protect water for animals, kids and the environment. Specifically, the entire retail price of $12 raised from the sale of each one of these candles supports Global Greengrants Fund water-related projects.
Yes To Coconut Cleansing Wipes ($5.99) are compostable, eco-friendly wipes formulated with coconut water and kukui nut extract to gently cleanse away dirt and makeup. What I love most about these wipes is that they smell like a tropical vacay and they are perfect for dry skin types (like mine!) who are looking for moisture and hydration. I adore the Yes To brand because their initiatives are relevant and relatable, like their #JustOneChange social media campaign that’s kicking off tomorrow on Earth Day and runs throughout May. This campaign is based on the idea that by making small changes – like using wipes instead of wasting water – you help yourself as well as the environment.
Mario Badescu Botanical Exfoliating Scrub ($26) is made out of earth friendly ingredients like finely ground Ecuadorian Ivory Palm seeds and nourishing botanicals like Ginger, Ginkgo, Green Tea, Aloe, and Coconut. This just-released scrub from one of the original eco-friendly brands, gently removes dull skin cells and makes your skin look fresh and radiant. I love the fresh clean smell of this scrub, the fluffy gel texture which feels almost like a pro-quality microdermabrasion treatment and I especially love how it makes my skin super soft and smooth. FAB!
Glycelene – The Beauty Serum ($125) I am totally smitten with this locally made artisanal handcrafted skincare brand and I have raved about them before. My newest obsession from this eco-chic line is their hyaluronic acid packed anti-aging serum. This transformative gem instantly penetrates deep into the layers of your skin, giving it a nourishing dose of peptides, anti-oxidants and botanicals to rejuvenate and revitalize your skin (FYI – I always swoon over the super clean, non-chemical, exquisite ingredient list on every single Glycelene product!) This Beauty Serum is my go-to when my skin is feeling sluggish and parched = LOVE!
Antonym Baked Blush in Peach ($36) is created using an innovative baking process which transforms the blush crème into a finely textured dome shaped powder with beautiful swirls of color. This certified organic baked blush is weightless, ultra smooth, silky and it gives your skin a beautiful radiant flush of color. I love the lit from within color it gives your skin and I couldn’t resist the fact that the look of this blush resembles the earth 😉 In addition, Antonym is also celebrating Earth Month by donating 20% of their online sales to OCEANA, an international organization focused solely on impacting change and better practices within our oceans.
Makes Scents Coco Mojito Sugar Scrub ($26) is an artisanal handcrafted body scrub made with organic cane juice, lime peel, peppermint leaves, and organic raw coconut which work together to gently exfoliate and soften your skin. This all-natural scrub also has lime essential oil, which acts as an astringent to tighten and firm your skin while the lime extract helps lighten hyperpigmentation. I would describe this scrub as a refreshing cocktail for your body, almost good enough to eat/drink (but don’t of course) and I love how smooth and silky my skin feels after using it.
Extra Virgin Night Revitalizing Face Cream ($90) is luxurious artisanal anti-aging face creme that I recently discovered while on a press trip in Ojai, CA created by stunning former Super Model Carolina Gramm. This gorgeous transformative cream is made from privately sourced extra virgin olive oil, organic plant extracts, peptides, vitamins, natural collagen and wild harvested Edelweiss which all work together synergistically to revitalize and rejuvenate your skin. I am smitten with this naturally good-for-you unctuous face cream that noticeably transforms my skin overnight, leaving me with plump and supple skin the next morning. After using it for about a month, I have noticed that it has made my skin smoother and more radiant – OBSESSED!
MUN No.1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum ($95) is a swoon-worthy face oil serum made out of three 100% pure organic anti-aging oils: prickly pear seed oil, rose oil and argan oil. This gorgeous cocktail of oils has made my skin look healthier and more luminous. I love using this fast absorbing oil-serum as a primer under my makeup because it gives my skin an instant glow, and over time I have noticed that this serum has made my skin look brighter. Further adding to the appeal is that MUN is committed to utilizing the best organic ingredients as well as production practices that respect our planet. In honor of Earth Month, they are offering 15% off through April 26th, with the code LoveEarth2015.
Haut Cosmetics Brighteners ($29.50) is a densely pigmented all natural skin brightening makeup made in Canada with 100% vegan, locally-sourced and certified organic ingredients. These compact brighteners are made with essential fatty acids to help nourish your skin as well as candelilla wax which helps diminish inflammation. These innovative brighteners come in five shades (white to deep yellow) and can be used all around the eye area to counteract darkness and brighten hyperpigmentation and dark spots. I LOVE this healthy makeup alternative which is packed with skin loving ingredients and I especially love the stackable minimalist packaging which allows you to carry all of your makeup essentials in one compact place. Eco Fab!
