Jersey Boys is one of my favorite iconic Broadway musicals, and Mark Ballas of DWTS fame breathes new life into the leading role of Frankie Valli
Jersey Boys is an award winning Broadway musical and one of my all time favs because it is an entertaining, fun, feel good show that is filled with iconic music, dancing and it wonderfully captures a bygone era. Add to that the amazingly talented Mark Ballas, most well-know for his incredible dancing and Emmy nominated work on Dancing with the Stars, playing the leading role of Frankie Valli at the Ahmanson engagement and you’ve got a winning combination!
Jersey Boys is the behind-the-music story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. It’s about four guys from Jersey that had a unique sound that catapulted them into fame. However, while their harmonies were perfect on stage, behind the scenes there was tension and conflict and this story sheds light on that. The show features many of The Four Seasons iconic hits like “Sherry” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Oh What A Night” and “Walk Like A Man” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Working My Way Back To You.”
Because I am a long time DWTS fan, I know that Mark is an incredible dancer, but who knew he could sing equally as well?! Surprisingly, he has an amazing singing voice and he absolutely nails Frankie Valli’s unforgettable falsetto.
In my opinion, Mark is the primary reason to head to the Ahmanson and see this show before it closes on June 24th. And even if you have seen Jersey Boys multiple times before like I have, Mark’s repertoire of impressive talent breathes new life into this well known show and iconic role.
Not only was I smiling, singing (to myself) and dancing in my seat for the majority of the show, but the highlight came at the end of the show when the original Frankie Valli walked onstage and made a cameo appearance. So fun and unexpected!
Jersey Boys is playing at the Ahmanson Theatre in DTLA now through Jun 24, 2017, you can buy tickets HERE
