My name is Romy, I am passionate about all things beauty and have been ever since I can remember. I recall being a little girl around 9 or 10 years old and visiting the cosmetics counters asking for perfume samples. I loved all the yummy girly scents and was especially excited when I scored one of those miniature collectible perfume bottles. I was quite proud of my rather large collection of samples, and I think this is where my lifelong obsession with beauty really began.
I think I love beauty products so much because they offer instant gratification, can easily shift your mood, and oftentimes they offer transformative results. Case in point, since I was about 16 years old, I have been getting regular facials and using some form of anti-aging skincare product and even at fifty something, I continually get compliments on my skin.
I am a beauty product junkie and a lifestyle trend expert and I have always been the Go-To-Girl for recommendations and tips on food/recipes, restaurants, wine, fashion, accessories, culture/entertainment, travel and especially about all things related to beauty. So finally after many years of doing this word of mouth, I decided to write about it and in April 2009 the Romy Raves Blog was born. My goal is to share useful information about lifestyle and beauty trends and impact women’s lives (especially midlife women!) in a positive way. On my blog, I RAVE about all things that I am passionate about, however I DO NOT RANT! I am not in the bashing business and life is too short to waste my time with negative press.
Now that I am in my early fifties, I have honed in the focus of my blog and am more focused on seeking out brands, products, experiences and content that resonates with women age 40 plus who are in the throes of midlife. Specifically, I am interested in partnering with brands, PR firms and marketing agencies that want to reach and develop content that targets this highly desirable midlife demographic – Women ages 35-65.

In addition to being a digital influencer, I am also a wife (married over 20 years), a mother to a hip, smart teenage boy, and a career woman. We are a family of foodies and adore spontaneous adventures. We will travel near and far in pursuit of yummy eats and inspired experiences.
About My Professional Background
I have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and years ago was on the path to become a therapist but got burnt out along the way; around that time, I was introduced to marketing research and fell in love with it. Being naturally curious, comfortable with public speaking and a gifted facilitator, I leveraged those talents to launch my own qualitative marketing research business.
For the last 25 years, I have been in business with my fabulous hubby Doug, and collaboratively we own and run Schorr Creative Solutions, Inc. a full service marketing research and consulting firm. Doug has an MBA and is the perfect left-brained compliment to my more right brain creative side. He is the man behind much of my professional success, and even though his New York sarcasm bugs me at times, I adore him and feel blessed that we are able to make a living and work together.
During the last twenty plus years, I have moderated hundreds of focus groups in the areas of entertainment, beauty, consumer products, toys, cultural trends, health and wellness and topics related to women. I currently continue to moderate focus groups and professional panels, facilitate brainstorming sessions and conduct presentations on a wide variety of topics ranging from professional networking, social media and beauty trends.
