Grab Your Waterproof Mascara, Beauties! The Notebook at the Pantages is a Love Story for the Ages!
Hello, my gorgeous beauties! Romy here and let me just say: I am still drying my eyes after an absolutely unforgettable night at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. If you thought you knew the story of Allie and Noah, wait until you see it come to life on stage in The Notebook musical. It is pure, soul-stirring magic!
You know I’m a sucker for a grand romance, but this production? It’s Rave-worthy on a whole new level.
The Story: A Beautifully Layered Journey of Memory
We all know the Nicholas Sparks novel and that iconic movie (hello, Ryan Gosling!), but the musical—with a book by the incredibly talented Bekah Brunstetter (of This Is Us fame)—takes it deeper and to a whole new level of wow.
What makes this show so special is how it uses three different pairs of actors to play Allie and Noah at three stages of their lives: Younger, Middle, and Older. Seeing them all on stage together, weaving through memories and time, is absolutely breathtaking. It focuses beautifully on the power of memory and the reality of dementia (something far too many of us are dealing with in real life), making the love story feel so much more profound and, quite frankly, heartbreakingly real.

The Music: Ingrid Michaelson is a Genius! ?
As a total “Ingrid Michael-stan,” I had high expectations for the score, and she delivered! The music is a gorgeous blend of soulful pop and folk that feels so intimate yet sweeping. The lyrics are sentimental without being cliché—they perfectly capture that “butterfly-inducing” feeling of first love and the quiet strength of a lifetime together. I’ve been humming the melodies all morning!
The Production: Rain, Water, and Style!
Can we talk about the set? Darlings, they have an actual pool of water on the stage! And yes, the iconic rain scene? It happens right there in front of you. It’s visually stunning and adds such a raw, romantic energy to the night.

The Romy Verdict? A Standing Ovation!
This show is a celebration of love, time, and the choices that define our lives. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the story or a total newcomer, you will leave the theatre feeling “purified” and perhaps wanting to hold your loved ones a little tighter. It’s the perfect girls’ night out or a romantic date night.
