An American in Paris has landed at the Pantages Theatre for a limited engagement & its a gorgeous hybrid of ballet and musical theater that will enchant you!
Last week, I attended the Opening Night performance of An American in Paris at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre and it was beautiful, magical and enchanting. Every once in a while, a show comes along that just makes you smile and sweeps you off your feet and this show was one of them. This show is spectacular to watch, between the exquisite ballet dancing, the beautiful set design and iconic music, you are in for a real treat.
An American in Paris is a multiple Tony Award-winning musical about an American soldier, a mysterious French girl and a beloved European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war. The magic and allure of Paris is brought to life through gorgeous ballet dancing, iconic songs from George and Ira Gershwin, strong acting and singing and a wonderful love story that transports you to another time and place. My favorite thing about this musical is the gorgeous visuals that it creates with the skillful dancing and the vibrant colorful sets, it is one of the most spectacularly beautiful live theater shows that I have ever seen, totally captivating!
Garen Scribner and Sara Esty beautifully portray the leads in the Pantages production of An American in Paris and they are equally skilled dancers, actors and singers – a triple threat – which I find surprisingly refreshing! I happened to have also seen this show on Broadway a couple of summers ago and can honestly say that these actors were equally on par with the original Broadway cast.
If you are a fan of musical theater, ballet, love stories and grand production numbers, I highly recommend seeing this show before it pirouettes out of LA in a few weeks. And it’s the perfect show to bring the whole family/young theater goers (age 10+) to as well, they will definitely enjoy it!
An American in Paris is playing at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre now through April 9th, 2017
