You are in for a real treat today because I recently had the opportunity to interview the charismatic, Jerrod Blandino, the founder of Too Faced Cosmetics (one of my fav makeup brands!) and very much enjoyed his spunky personality and makeup brilliance. He is truly a pioneer in the beauty industry and wealth of knowledge about makeup and enhancing a persons’s beauty. Enjoy!
Why did you get into the make-up biz?
By accident! I was an art teacher in my very early twenties and then an animator for Disney (for a short moment). I met an Estee Lauder exec at an event, was offered a job after just ten minutes. From the moment I applied my “art” to a woman and saw how I made her see herself in a brighter, more positive way I immediately fell in love. My whole life up to that point “clicked” and everything made sense. It was that dramatic!
What do you love about it?
The honor of being a part of the evolution and growth of a woman’s self esteem. If you see yourself as beautiful, you are empowered and grow in your love for yourself. Feeling relevant, fabulous, glamorous and gorgeous is an essential aspect of living in the fun and blessings life (God) has to offer!
What are 3 words that describe you best?
Creative. Rebellious. Fiercely Loyal.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I’ve been a vegetarian for 23 years. I saw a cow die and that was it!
Can you give us a couple of super easy, quick make-up tips/tricks?
1. To shrink your pores and perfect your skin in a pinch (Do what I do for my celeb clients during award show season), Stick your head in the freezer for 45 seconds (shock those pores into submission), apply my Primed and Poreless primer and glaze on Amazing Face peptide rich foundation on all areas that need coverage. You’ll look like you stepped out of a time-machine! It’s a red carpet secret. 2. If you’re ever left with one minute to get ready and get out the door (ever had your alarm clock not go off on a Monday morning?) Apply two coats of my Lash Injection mascara and pop Sun Bunny bronzer on the apples of your cheeks, nose and chin then along the perimeter of your face; and a little on your lids and your Ready to go! Don’t forget a little gloss to really make it look like you spent 20 minutes in that mirror. Honestly mascara and bronzer are like oxygen. Everyone needs them to survive!
What are a couple of make-up trends that you are seeing for this Holiday Season?
Fun with the “Natural Look” spiced up with metallics, shimmers, and smoky pearls. Also, pops of fun & bold color on the lips (fuchsia, ruby red, deep berries) to make this neutrally sexy look SPARKLE!
