Cirque du Soleil VOLTA is a new high energy urban version of this beloved show, inspired by the adventurous spirit that fuels the culture of street sports
If you are a fan of the avant-garde Cirque du Soleil shows, I think you are really going to enjoy the latest version of this fan favorite show now playing at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles through early March. VOLTA is an energetic and lively show that explores the themes of diversity, urban lifestyle, cultural differences and the adventurous spirit of street sports. The name VOLTA refers to a sudden about-face, a change in emotion as well as the jolt of energy you will experience throughout the show.
The core story of VOLTA centers around a game show contestant named Waz who has lost his way in life and feels ashamed of who he is because of his difference (spiky blue hair.)
Waz decides to enter the game show in search of fame, thinking that this will bring him happiness and fulfillment, however along the way he learns that fame is not the answer and by the end of the show he comes to realize that it is actually his differences that make him extraordinary.
Through a series of visually captivating acrobatics and never-seen-before creative stunts that Cirque du Soleil is known for, VOLTA captures the pulse, vibe, colors, power and energy of the urban lifestyle. They portray this story beautifully via unbelievable bike tricks, scaling tall buildings using a trampoline for buoyancy, showcasing an acrobat only suspended only by her hair (my fav) or double dutch rope jumping to name a few. VOLTA really captures the perseverance and passion of urban sports enthusiasts who constantly challenge themselves and defy convention. This show emulates this and so much more!
One of the highlights of VOLTA is the finale that features a full-blown BMX bike park mounted on stage which allows the risk-taking riders to deliver a jaw-dropping, fast and furious air tricks and nonstop acrobatics on wheels before your very eyes. It’s really hard to convey how unique and powerful this act is until you see it with your own eyes.
VOLTA is filled with so many mesmerizing acts, powerful music, colorful costumes, humor and memorable moments and if you are looking for something fun and entertaining to do with the whole family, make sure to get tickets to see Cirque du Soleil VOLTA at Dodger Stadium now through March 8, 2020.
