Like many of you, I am caught up in the end of year frenzy – finishing up work projects, meeting last minute deadlines and burning the candle at both ends, so it was an absolute welcome treat to take a much needed break from all of my stress and attend the Opening Night of The Bridges of Madison County at the Ahmanson Theatre with a couple of my favorite social media influencers

Some of you may remember the movie version of this story starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, what a tearjerker! Well, this show is a musical adaption of the movie based on the award winning novel by Robert James Waller. This version of Bridges is an absolutely beautiful and romantic tale about true love and it tells the story of a four day love affair that changes the lives of two people forever.
Bridges The Musical at the Ahmanson features seasoned Broadway actress Elizabeth Stanley (“On the Town” and “Million Dollar Quartet”) as the repressed Italian transplant Francesca and Andrew Samonsky (“The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “South Pacific”) as the hunky sexy and romantic cowboy/photographer Robert Kincaid. The chemistry between these two leading actors is so believable and captivating that you get totally wrapped up in their emotional journey.
And while the show is moving and well-acted, it’s truly the music that transports you to this timeless small town, life altering epic love story. The musical score of Bridges is absolutely gorgeous and hypnotic! And it’s no wonder that Jason Robert Brown’s music and lyrics received Tony Award accolades. And as a special treat exclusively for LA audiences, Jason Robert Brown will be conducting each performance.
My girlfriends and I really enjoyed the show and the highlights for us included: it was an exquisite escape type of show, a beautifully told love story, Elizabeth’s performance was top notch, the eye candy was an added bonus and probably the best part is that we all went on the emotional journey with these lovers. This show is perfect for a Girl’s Night Out this Holiday Season!
