Have you ever been to a Tupperware Party? Well, I have and they certainly can be dry and boring, however that’s definitely not the case with Dixie’s Tupperware Party now playing at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. This Tupperware Party is hosted by Dixie Longate, a down-to-earth, fast-talking, gum chewing, ginger-haired Alabama gal who turns a drab boring Tupperware party into a fun, interactive, irreverent night of fabulous entertainment.

When you walk into the theater before Dixie’s Tupperware Party begins, the affable hostess (played by the the show’s creator Kris Andersson) greets you with a wink, a warm smile and a breath mint. You immediately feel at home in Dixie’s world where she uses Tupperware as a way to connect with diverse audiences and uses it to tell a wonderful story that pays homage to empowered women who persevere against all odds.

Dixie uses Tupperware to tell outrageously funny tales, homespun wisdom and engage in hysterical audience participation. She makes you laugh so hard that you are almost crying and at the same time she weaves in the heartwarming backstory of Tupperware’s founder Brownie Wise. Dixie’s story touches your heart, makes you smile and helps you really appreciate how truly ahead of their time those plastic bowls and the business model the ensued really were!

After the show, I had a chance to meet the sweet-as-pie Dixie, snap some selfies and learn that this show was created out of Dixie’s real life drag queen Tupperware parties that were such a hit, she decided to create a stage show out of it. Bless her heart!

To add to the authenticity of the show, Dixie continues to sell Tupperware in real life and she even leaves you with a catalog to take home, just in case you want to place an order after the show!
