Sexy Hair Reinvent Color Care Keratin Hair Filler

Sexy Hair, one of the pioneers of innovative hair styling products recently developed a new in-salon treatment designed to transform your hair from the inside out. Reinvent Color Care Keratin Hair Filler penetrates your hair follicles and deposits keratin protein into your hair making it stronger, shinier and frizz-free. This treatment helps prevent damage by forming an invincible shield on the hair shaft, lubricating and reinforcing the cucticle. I had the pleasure of meeting the charismatic Rafe and visiting the Sexy Hair Institute of Courage (a gorgeous Spanish style haven nestled in a beautiful SoCal canyon) a couple of weeks ago to try this inspired new treatment. First, the Keratin filler was applied to my wet hair, which it penetrated instantly, and then it was followed by a deep conditioner and sitting under the dryer for 10-15 minutes. After the product was rinised out, I was treated to a blowdry and I marveled at my rejuvenated shiny healthy hair. It lasted through 3-4 washings and I can’t wait to do it again! This treatment will be available in salons beginning in August 2011.

Brazilian Blowout ZERO

I know there has been alot of buzz about Brazilian Blowout and the harmful effects of this treatment, so I was not surprised that shortly after the negative press, BB came out with Brazilian Blowout ZERO. This new professional smoothing treatment is formulated with a plant-derived 0% Formaldehyde straightening product called KeraSafe, a proprietary blend of ingredients combining the original Brazilian Blowout Super Nutrient Complex with a plant-based straightening system. BB ZERO smoothes and seals the cuticle by creating a protective protein layer around the hair shaft to eliminate frizz and promote shine.

The delightful and personable Berrie Miller, a highly seasoned mobile hair stylist, came to my house a few months ago to have me test out BB Zero. It took about two hours and the process was similiar to the other straightening treatments I have tried, except that BB has no down time/you don’t have to be careful or not wash it for 2-3 days, LOVE that! The main differences with ZERO are that there are no strong fumes (no formaldehyde is released when flat ironing the hair) and my hair had more life and body than I have typically gotten with other straightening treatments.

I loved the way my hair looked right after the treatment, like a perfect blowdry with body and movement! BB ZERO doesn’t last as long as the other regular leaded straightening treatments, but my hair was smooth and very easy to blowdry for about two months. Feather Tipping by Krystal Riddle at Fred Segal Salon Santa Monica

I have blogged about feather extensions before, but this is a new twist on that fun trend. Feather tipping is attaching feathers to just the tips of your hair rather than at the root. Your hair is finely braided and one or more feathers is attached to the bottom of this tiny braid with a small clamp. Tipping looks more like you are wearing a feather earring and blends really nicely with the hair.

Krystal is a custom extension maven and I loved her relaxed style and a creative approach for applying feathers. She looked at my style, directed me towards doing three strategically placed feathers that subtly peek through my hair, which have lasted over a couple of months of blow drying and flat ironing.
