If you are a musical theater lover or a fan of Motown music, you can’t help but LOVE MOTOWN THE MUSICAL! Last week I attended the Opening Night performance at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre of this much raved about show, and I now understand what all the fuss is about. This show is wonderful, it makes you feel good and nostalgic about the music you’ve grown up with and it is totally fun and entertaining. I truly could not help dancing in my seat!

MOTOWN THE MUSICAL is the incredible story of Motown founder Berry Gordy and his captivating journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of legends like Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and so many more. This show depicts how Motown created the indelible soundtrack of change in America which shattered barriers and shaped our lives in meaningful ways.

Not only does the show take you on an insightful journey of Berry’s life, it also transports you back in time to relive some of the most iconic and memorable music ever written. This incredibly enjoyable musical montage features more than 40 classic hits such as “My Girl” ~ “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” ~ “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” and “Stop in the Name of Love” to name a few.

But what makes this show incredibly special is that you totally feel transported to a live concert and feel like you are watching original performances by these iconic bands and superstars in real life. I highly recommend seeing MOTOWN THE MUSICAL at the Pantages because it is such a fun, feel good, immersive experience with talented actors, fabulous dancing and unbelievable singing. The Jackson 5 and Diana Ross’ performances were definitely among the highlights for me.

And as an added bonus, Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson were in attendance on Opening Night and came up on stage to share their praise of the show as well as their contributions to the music industry. What a special treat!
