Angelenos like me know that traffic in LA is a HUGE nuisance and stress factor, and for this reason I am thrilled that on-demand transportation services like Uber and Lyft have emerged onto the transportation scene in large cities like Los Angeles. Honestly, because it is so affordable and easy to use, I use services like this all the time, especially when I am heading to events as well as for a night out on the town, so that I can use my transportation time to work, catch up or just relax. It’s an affordable luxury and such a pleasure!

Did you know that there are nearly 7.5 million vehicles registered in Los Angeles County and that the City of the Angels boasts the worst Ozone rank in America? It’s unfortunate, but it’s true and this plethora of cars is wreaking havoc on our environment!

Allow me to introduce you to Evercar, a timely and smart new business model that rents electric and hybrid vehicles in cities throughout Los Angeles County, for as little as $5 per hour (including unlimited miles, fuel, maintenance and insurance.) Evercar is a great resource for people who want to drive for rideshare and delivery companies like Uber, Lyft, Postmates, DoorDash and others.

Evercar’s simple pricing model and driver-friendly terms of service covers all the costs of owning or leasing a vehicle and makes it possible for more Angelenos to earn money driving in the on-demand economy. The company also helps improve local air quality by taking gas-guzzling, high-polluting cars off the road and replacing them with clean, environmentally-friendly cars. By using electric cars, Evercar drivers have displaced nearly 10,000 gallons of gas and saved 85 metric tons of CO2 from being emitted. I love the sound of that, Eco FAB!

“Our service makes it easy for multiple drivers to share an electric vehicle, and as a result we’re able to put more on-demand drivers in Los Angeles behind the wheel of safe, affordable, environmentally-friendly vehicles,” explains Michael Brylawski, Evercar CEO. “In doing so, we’re creating economic opportunity and good-paying jobs for a community of on-demand drivers while simultaneously improving local air quality.”

After learning more about the economic and environmental impact that Evercar can make on the on-demand transportation industry, it made me want to share this message with all of you; Los Angeles residents who just might be a current or future on-demand driver and/or a regular consumer of this type of service. Today, Evercar has more than 60 shared electric vehicles in service in Los Angeles County (working towards 1000) and nearly 300 drivers have joined the Evercar community to date. Nice!

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I am a regular patron of on-demand transportation services and now that I see that services like Evercar are trying to diminish our collective carbon footprint and make eco friendly cars accessible to more drivers, this totally makes me want to utilize services like this even more, how about you?

Disclosure: This is a sponsored blog; while the views expressed here were genuinely mine, consideration was paid to me by EverCar to review this product. I partnered with EverCar because I am a fan and regular patron of affordable transportation services like Uber and am happy to support a service like this that makes environmentally-friendly cars more affordable and accessible.
