Universal Studios Hollywood Gets Festive for the Holidays

If you are looking for something fun & festive to do with your family this Holiday Season, Universal Studios Hollywood has lots of merriment to be discovered & enjoyed.

My family and I are big amusement park fans and fortunately we live pretty close to some of the best theme parks in the country! One of our favorites is Universal Studios Hollywood because we love the entertainment industry theme and the state-of-the-art attractions. During the holiday season, Universal Hollywood really kicks it up a notch by decking out the park in Christmas themed festivities and experiences. Last week, my family and I had the opportunity to explore many of the holiday season enhancements first hand. Here are some of my favs:

Grinchmas

One of the most fun and festive areas of Universal during the holidays is Who-ville and Grinchmas. You won’t find any of the Who-ville merriment in the park during the rest of the year, but during the holidays this Dr. Seuss classic comes to life with fabulous whimsical decor and a spectacular Christmas tree.

While spending time in Who-Ville, you will get to see jolly Who-liday musical performances as well as have the opportunity to mix and mingle with the cheery people that live there.

And if you’re lucky, you just might have a chance encounter with the funny and feisty Grinch and experience him spreading his buoyant mischief throughout the park.

However, probably the most special and meaningful activity in all of Who-ville during the holiday season is visiting the Post Office and partaking in the “Grow Your Heart 3 Sizes” campaign where you can share your good deeds on a postcard and mail them to The Grinch. In return, Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P. and Random House Children’s Books, the publishers of Dr. Seuss’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’, will pay it forward and donate a book to a child in need through First Book on behalf of the sender. Isn’t this what the holidays are all about?!

Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

My family and I are huge Harry Potter fans and we were beyond excited to checkout the holiday festivities in the The Wizarding World at Universal Hollywood. The yuletide spirit is alive and well in Hogsmeade. This quaint village shines brightly with festive décor uniquely themed to each of the individual storefronts.

And a visit to Hogsmeade wouldn’t be complete without a spot of ButterBeer. My son and his best bud were fans of the frozen ButterBeer (it tastes like a buttery vanilla marshmallow cream soda BTW, yum!)

In addition to enjoying this much beloved Harry Potter libation, during the holiday season you will also have the opportunity to enjoy a special festive meal of roast turkey and gravy, pigs in blankets, a medley of vegetables, braised red cabbage, roasted potatoes, cranberry sauce, and of course finish with Christmas pudding. Now that’s a traditional British feast!

However, the real magic happens when night falls upon Hogmeade: The iconic Hogwarts castle is brought to life in a dazzling state-of-the-art light projection display of festive music, holiday imagery and familiar characters from the Harry Potter legacy. It’s pretty cool to see the castle transform and watch the images literally jump off the screen and invite you into this captivating world. This holiday season show runs multiple times throughout the night and will continue through Sunday, January 7th, 2018.
