Last week, I was delighted to finally have the chance to see the much raved about A Bronx Tale at the  Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. This wonderfully captivating musical takes you back in time to the stoops of the Bronx during the 1960’s where a young boy struggles between his love for his father and his loyalty to the local mob boss who is like a father-figure to him.

This beloved Broadway musical is directed by Robert De Niro and Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks with original music from the brilliant Alan Menken of Disney fame. This heartfelt musical is based on the real life story of Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri and it is filled with high-energy big bold dance numbers that wonderfully capture the mafioso street culture of the era.

A Bronx Tale is a relatable story that takes you on an wonderful emotional journey about family, friendship, growing up, love, racism, crime and life lessons. I totally agree with AM New York who said, “It’s a combination of Jersey Boys and West Side Story.” The show totally captures the authentic rough and tumble vibe of the streets of New York during the 60’s while at the same time delivering incredibly well crafted musical dance numbers that audiences have come to expect from the best shows on Broadway. I especially loved seeing the realistic relationship unfold between the two leads, Sonny (the mob boss and Calogero (the young man he mentors) and the fabulously unexpected ending.

This show will make you laugh, it’ll make you want to tap your feet and it’ll even make you cry. Don’t miss out! Go see A Bronx Tale at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre before it ends on November 25, 2018.
