I’m the first to admit that I have become a bit enamored with technology, especially apps. Frequently, I hear about a fabulous new photo app or beauty app or shopping app and I am often one of the first to try it, occupational hazard I guess. So when I was invited to checkout SkinBetter, an inspired new beauty app I jumped at the chance! I’m excited to tell you all about it and share my experience with you.
SkinBetter is an innovative new skin analysis app that allows you to upload a photo of your face/skin and have it instantlly analyzed with the same technology found in most dermatologist’s offices. SkinBetter’s proprietary algorithm takes the visual data, along with your self-reported skin history and concerns, and provides customized product recommendations that have been curated by some of the country’s top dermatologists and plastic surgeons. And you can immediately buy those targeted recommended products directly via the website, which is easy to navigate because it’s organized by skin concern, skin type, product type, or brand.
Here’s a screenshot of one of my SkinBetter photos with analysis:
Nice to know, my diligent skincare & sun protection have paid off 🙂
And here are some of the targeted products the app recommended to treat my mild level of spots/pigmentation:
Some of the intriguing features of the SkinBetter technology are:
-
It has special mapping software that targets critical facial areas that reveal the condition of skin, and specific complexion elements
-
It has a patented comparison system that taps into the world’s largest skin feature database and grades your wrinkles and spots relative to other people with a similar skin type
-
The app has proprietary technology that allows it to recognize existing spots and redness, as well as emerging spots
-
It has a thorough questionnaire developed by leading dermatologists and plastic surgeons that elicits a self-assessment of aesthetic skin history and areas of concern
-
It uses a proprietary algorithm that considers objective visual and digital data, skin history and concerns, and detailed product information to provide dermatologist and plastic surgeon recommended solutions for your skin care needs and objectives
What did I think of the SkinBetter App?
It took me a few tries to position my face within the guidelines to get the proper photo and have it analyzed, but once I figured it out, I thought it was pretty fascinating and accurate. Surprisingly, it diagnosed my degree of skin problems very accurately and recommended highly active targeted products that I would definitely buy to treat my skin. It’s actually rather simple and brilliant IMO (although I know the technology is very advanced) and an excellent way to tap into state-of-the-art technology. I love that this app is designed so that consumers are less overwhelmed by the vast amount of skincare products on the shelf today. I felt confident with the analysis and product recs that the app generated, almost as good as having a private consult with a derm, but this is FREE. I highly rec checking out this app – Go ahead and put your face to the test here: SkinBetter
Disclosure: I partnered with SkinBetter to review this app, but all opinions and great looking skin are my own

This sounds like a really great idea for an app. I think it is cool that you can buy the products from the app as well. It would be interesting to see how my skin checks out. This was fun to read about. Thanks for sharing.
