In early October, the Anaheim Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau invited over 150 top SoCal bloggers to their Mad Men themed OC Blogger Bash in celebration of their 50th anniversary. This swanky event took place in the front lobby of the Anaheim Convention Center which was transformed into a spectacular vintage soiree set in the sixties complete with mock drive-in 1960s automobiles, a live band playing era classics, Daily Hot Guys (yum!) handing out candy cigarettes and iconic treats, and delicious retro cuisine (I am still swooning over the peanut butter and jelly milkshake-To Die For!)
The purpose of this grand event was to introduce AOCVCB and its members to some of SoCal’s top bloggers and showcase the area’s desirable destination possibilities. This event really highlighted the growing value of social media and the blogosphere with community partners donating over $60,000 worth of giveaway prizes that showcased the myriad of fun things to do in the OC.
It was so fun seeing some of my favorite bloggers all dolled up in their most glam sixities attire and having fun dancing, schmoozing, taking silly photos and learning all about what Anahiem and the OC have to offer tourists near and far. Look at this FAB picture of me with Mary Hall The Recessionista, Kim Tracy Prince House of Prince and Lexi of Thirty Fingers and Thirty Toes
The highlight of this event for me definitely was being chosen as one of the blogger models in the vintage glam fashion show. I was so excited to be in the fashion show because I swear, with my Marilyn Monroe kickin’ curves, I was totally meant to live in this era! And, I was even more delighted to be introduced to the amazing vintage inspired creations of a local OC designer and clothing retailer Queen of Heartz aka Letty Tennant. Letty’s gorgeous curve loving dresses are amazing and really showcase the beautiful shape of a woman’s body, and I felt like a sexy bombshell in my form fitting plum dress, vintage updo and retro make-up, what do you think?
And here I am with my fellow blogesses/fashion show partners in crime Lexi and Heather of LAFashionSnob-we had such a blast hanging out together and getting glammed up for the fashion show!
The vintage inspired staging of this fashion show was absolutely FABULOUS! The models descended down the escalator runway into the lobby on a grand escalator, while spotlights highlighted each model and her gorgeous Queen of Heartz dress as she slowly made her way down into the crowd. It was so fabulously dramatic and guests were captivated by this totally “Pan Am style” fashion show. And yours truly (a girl who loves being the center of attention BTW) had the added bonus of being escorted down the escalator by two hunky Daily Hot Guys (Andrew Cota pictured with me below left was an absolute doll and would be the perfect addition to your next event), and I totally milked it, went over the top flirting and had an absolute blast!
This was an amazing event, I loved being a part of it and I will not forget it! Cheers!
