If you loved him on Dancing With the Stars, you know Mark Ballas as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys was exceptional! This iconic Broadway musical played at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles to rave reviews.
*Jersey Boys is one of my favorite musicals so when it came to the Ahmanson Theater I was excited. The theater gave me tickets to the show to share my experience with you.
What is Jersey Boys About
Jersey Boys is an award-winning Broadway musical. It’s the behind-the-music story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. It’s about four guys from Jersey that had a unique sound that catapulted them into fame.
However, while their harmonies were perfect on stage, behind the scenes there was tension and conflict and this story sheds light on that.
The show features many of The Four Seasons’ iconic hits like:
- “Sherry”
- “Big Girls Don’t Cry”
- “Oh What A Night”
- “Walk Like A Man”
- “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”
- “Working My Way Back To You.”
It’s an entertaining, fun, feel-good show that is filled with iconic music, dancing and it wonderfully captures a bygone era.
Add to that the amazingly talented Mark Ballas, most well-known for his incredible dancing and Emmy nominated work on Dancing with the Stars, and you’ve got a winning combination!
Playing the leading role of Frankie Valli for the Ahmanson engagement, he breathes new life into the role.
Mark Ballas is More Than a Dancer
Because I am a long-time DWTS fan, I know that Mark is an incredible dancer. But who knew he could sing equally as well?! Surprisingly, he has an amazing singing voice and he absolutely nails Frankie Valli’s unforgettable falsetto.
In my opinion, Mark is the primary reason to head to the Ahmanson and see this show before it closes on June 24th. And even if you have seen Jersey Boys multiple times before like I have, Mark’s repertoire of impressive talent breathes new life into this well known show and iconic role.
While the show is no longer playing at the Ahmanson, one of the coolest things about seeing a show on stage there is that you can experience amazing actors in the lead roles.
And best of all, you can see top-quality theater, right in Los Angeles.
Highlights of the Show
The upbeat music kept me smiling, singing (to myself) and dancing in my seat for the majority of the show.
I also loved getting to see Mark Ballas really come to life and show another side to his talent than I had previously known about.
As a music lover, it was cool to learn more about the back story of the musicians that I’ve grown up listening to.
But the ultimate highlight came at the end of the show when the original Frankie Valli walked onstage and made a cameo appearance. So fun and unexpected!
